June 24, 2024
From Menri Ponlob:
A brief history of Lama Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche
Lama Tashi was born on May 10th, 1954 in Charkha, Dolpo. His father’s name is Nyima Tseten, his mother’s name is Tsultrim. He went for retreat for three years in Charkha, Yangton Monastery. Afterwards he went to Menri Monastery in India, where he joined the Bön Dialectic School. At Menri Monastery he received teachings from Menri Yongdzin Sangye Tenzin, Menri Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, and HH Menri Trizin the 33rd.
He was the first Geshe graduate from Menri Monastery in India in 1986. He was then selected as a discipliner at the Bön Dialectic school. He also served three years as Prayer of the Protector. In 1988 he returned back to his hometown of Charkha, Dolpo, where he built a new Bön Monastery; Yangon Thongdrol Phuntsok Ling. Since then, he taught young tantric practitioners. He also traveled to the U.S to give teachings.
He health was declining for a few years. He passed away in his home, in meditation posture, on the full moon, at 9:23 a.m. on June 22nd, 2024 in Kathmandu, Nepal. In Tibetan we call it a “Thug Dam La Zhug”.
After 3 days he will be taken to Charka, Dolpo by helicopter for cremation.
We are praying for his enlightenment and we thank his loving students.
