Dear Students and Friends of Menri Ponlop Trinley Nyima Rinpoche and Khyungdzong Wodsel Ling,
What a year 2020 has been. All of us at KWL wish the best for each and every one of you, all over the world. Menri Ponlop along with all of Menri, the children’s home and Redna Ling nunnery have been in lockdown since March. Everyone has stayed healthy and students have been focused on their lessons.
Rinpoche has asked for help with bridging the gap between the basics that Yungdrung Bon Monastic Center (YBMC) provides and what is often lacking due to limited family resources. We are calling this on-going fund drive: “The Bridge Fund”.
Many of the monks and nuns come from families with little income and this year there is even less support available. India has shut down the WeChat app used by many of monks to receive financial support from their families. In addition, with the monastery on lockdown, no Tibetans or Westerners (another source of income for Menri) have been able to visit. Prior to 2020, visitors would come bearing gifts and special ritual requests.
Menri provides basic food (primarily rice and daal) for all of the monks and nuns where they eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in a group. They are allowed to stay in their rooms in the evenings and cook for themselves if they like. This means they must buy their own supplies. Rinpoche wants to provide cooking oil, flour and fruit, and there is also a need for extra clothing for the winter and a little bit of spending money. In October he gave from his personal account, and in November KWL will give a donation from our general fund.
Please consider becoming a sustaining donor to “The Bridge Fund” to help support the monks and nuns in the Dialectic School. Any donation, either as a one-time gift or as an on-going monthly donation, is gratefully appreciated.
We look forward to having several more sustaining donors provide on-going support to the students, male and female alike of the Dialectic school. Click on the link below and start helping now! Thank you.
